Special Projects Intern
The Walker Art Center seeks a motivated and capable Special Projects Intern to assist our Development team with various events, writing assignments, clerical projects and research as well as institutional fundraising efforts. This is a great opportunity to work alongside dynamic colleagues supporting some incredible programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES will include, but are not limited to:
Institutional Fundraising: Assist with Fall Prospect and Renewal Campaign, prospect research, request letter and proposal writing assignments, and request follow-up.
Database Management and Administrative Support: Gain experience in one of the most sought after development softwares -- Tessitura, including gift entry and constituent record management. Other clerical projects assigned as needed.
DURATION & HOURS:
Average of 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, plus some evening special events from September through December based on availability; Walker membership and museum discounts, and the opportunity to work alongside talented individuals as well as support remarkable artists, events and programming.
If the applicant has the option to use the internship for course credit, Walker Art Center will work with the university to fulfill requirements, as possible. While this is an unpaid internship, interns will receive a free Walker membership, free gallery admission, and discounts in the Walker’s restaurant, Esker Grove, and Shops. Complimentary tickets to select events may also be available. This is also a great opportunity to work alongside talented individuals while helping to support remarkable artists, events and programming.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:
Educational background or strong proficiency within the areas of business, communications, English/composition, journalism, marketing, museum studies, public relations and /or art history.
Interest/knowledge in non-profit arts administration and fundraising activities preferred.
Microsoft Office proficiency required. Strong organizational, clerical, and communication skills needed.
