Independent Project Manager - Contracted Position (part-time)
The Walker is seeking an Independent Project Manager to provide management and administrative services for three season events (with a focus on dance) in the Walker Art Center’s Performing Arts 2018-19 season. Responsibilities include contracting, management of logistics /schedules/itineraries with artists and agents as well as artistic issues (in consultation with Senior Curator); tracking budget with department and EMP staff; overseeing performances and residency activities; reconciliation of projects financials and grant reports with department, across Walker staff and partners; contributing to marketing/public relation efforts; and participating in weekly department staff meetings, as necessary.
The three season events this role will oversee are:
Choreographers’ Evening (November 24, 2018) as well as overseeing of the choreographers evening auditions on August 9, 10, and 11 of 2018
Berlin (January 24-26, 2019)
Henry Threadgill (Feb 15-16, 2019)
Arts administration or related arts degree with practical experience and knowledge in an arts discipline and project management and performing arts presenting is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and poise, strengths in marketing and public relations (particularly social media), decision making capability; strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to design effective administrative systems. Ability to work effectively with wide range of people (artists, administrators, national/international producing collaborators, technical crew, community partners and patrons) while handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced department both independently and with a team. Strong applicants have involvement and interest in contemporary performing arts, non-profit experience, and are skilled in task prioritization. Knowledge and experience with the complete Microsoft Office Suite (PC), social media/web, database systems, and Internet research required. Photoshop, InDesign is a plus.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
This is an independent contractor project-based part-time role; project fee is based on experience and number of projects and will be worked out directly with performing arts; flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is required, as well as the ability to work administratively both on-site at the Walker 1-2 days/week, as well as off-site to complete each project; Walker membership and museum discount; mileage and on-site parking reimbursement, and the opportunity to work alongside talented individuals and support remarkable artists, events and programming.
