Summer Social Event Assistant

Walker Art Center's Public Engagement team presents a range of innovative programming, projects, and events designed to engage a diverse public with the Walker’s exhibitions, collections, and other special projects. The Summer Social assistant supports the Public Engagement Manager to produce the weekly summer Free Thursday Night program called Summer Social 


WHAT YOU GET TO DO 

  • Attend weekly all hands meeting with programming team, event production team, front of house, and marketing.
  • Assist with the coordination of events and programs, ensuring that the presentation of the event is professional and efficient as assigned 
  • This will include greeting audience and helping them navigate the event and our space
  • Setting out signage and communicating day-of with front of house team the daily run of show and event maps
  • Greeting artist and performers and helping them get to tech checks, load in etc
  • Making catering arrangements for artists on site for events
  • Producing event-related documents (Internal Event Forms, event maps, contracts)
  • Procuring and preparing supplies
  • Assist with Producing any related correspondence and documents
  • Provide debrief notes from events
  • Liaison with Visitor Experience and Event Production team provide necessary information
  • Maintain timely and accurate program statistics. Participate in debriefing and prepare reports as needed 

WHAT WE NEED IN YOU 

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in customer service or events is desirable.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a quick and resourceful manner.
  • Ability to handle a variety of operations simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of personalities and people across a variety of cultures, generations, and abilities.
  • A willing attitude and positive demeanor
  • Ability to work shifts of varying lengths minimum of 2 hours and up to 7.5 hours
  • This position will require working Wednesday afternoons and Thursday evenings
  • Active interest in contemporary arts and culture

PHYSICAL DEMANDS   

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS This position is considered part-time (0.2 FTE Assignment), non-exempt. As a non-exempt position, it is eligible for overtime pay. The compensation for this role is $17.39 hourly.
