The Facilities Coordinator will coordinate, plan, organize, control, and monitor institutional activities to ensure the delivery of events that are consistent with the Walker Art Center’s mission and strategic plan.  


WHAT YOU GET TO DO 

Planning and Scheduling:

  • Assist with our event management system administration (Artifax).
  • Prepare documents for and attend various planning and scheduling meetings, sharing relevant and pertinent information with colleagues in various departments as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient day-to-day and event operations from a logistical standpoint.
  • Assist the facilities manager with identifying and addressing operational efficiencies.

Facilities and Events:

  • Effectively perform administrative functions and details of event management to ensure all aspects of events are coordinated and integrated for the successful delivery of Walker events and programming that are consistent with organizational expectations for excellence.
  • Complete desk and furniture set-up, workstation configurations, staff kitchen equipment inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the procurement and management of office supplies, equipment, and furniture
  • Participate in the setup and tear-down of event spaces.

WHAT WE NEED IN YOU 

Minimum Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in event coordination, facilities coordination, or operation is required
  • Willingly take directions from others, follow set up plans with an attention to detail
  • Flexibility and ability to quickly adjust to unusual and unexpected needs and situations
  • Customer service skills and a friendly demeanor
  • Effective team-oriented communication skills
  • Ability to focus and follow through with tasks
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • Must possess a commitment to fostering a culture of radical hospitality with a focus on racial equity, inclusion, and access

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in the arts community and/or interest in contemporary art is a plus.
  • Either possess or have willingness to earn a “2nd Class C” Boiler License or higher.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Physical stamina and high energy level with the ability to potentially work long hours for certain events
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds

JOB SPECIFICATIONS This position is considered full-time (35 hours per week), non-exempt. As a non-exempt position, it is eligible for overtime pay. The compensation for this role is $23.00 hourly.
