The Theatre/Event Technician provides technical support to Walker Art Center programming as assigned. These technicians support the wide range of technical activities of a multijurisdictional arts center with programming support need on a show-by-show and event by event basis (part time/occasional).
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Support live artistic programming and events as a theatrical technician under the supervision of Walker full time staff.
- Model respectful and professional behavior by being sensitive to cultural differences and supporting a positive and inclusive work environment.
Useful skill sets include:
- Theatrical lighting hang/focus/strike
- Electrical and lighting troubleshooting
- Lighting console programming (ETC GIO)
- Backline setup/troubleshooting
- Able read and set up staging from stage diagrams/input lists
- Digital and manual audio console mixing (FOH) and troubleshooting
- Digital and manual monitor console mixing (onstage) and trouble shooting
- Working knowledge of audio signal flow
- Working knowledge of a wide variety of mic brands and types
- Working knowledge of Q-Lab programming and operations
- Video set up from layout drawings/information
- Troubleshooting a wide variety of video gear
- Live video mixing
- Working knowledge of power tools
- Ability to read and implement working drawings
- Working understanding of Rigging systems
WHAT WE NEED IN YOU
Minimum Requirements
- Working knowledge of a range of some areas of technical production - including
- lighting, audio and basic rigging, video and data projection, and carpentry, etc.
- Experience hanging and focusing theatrical lighting equipment
- Experience running cable and basic troubleshooting audio set ups
- Experience working in a supportive and respectful space with people of different genders, ethnicity and physical abilities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequently lift 50 pounds unassisted
- Occasional working at heights via hydraulic lifts, extension ladders and theatrical grids.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS This position is considered part-time (casual), non-exempt. As a non-exempt position, it is eligible for overtime pay. The compensation for this role is variable based on call assignment, the minimum probationary rate is $23.23 hourly. The Walker offers a wide range of benefits for both part-time and full-time employees.
This position is covered by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) labor contract
