The Rosemary Furtak Intern in Library Studies

JOB SUMMARY         

The Rosemary Furtak Internship is for graduate students completing their Master’s in Information or similar degree.  The Intern will provide support for the Walker Art Center Library and will work with books, journals, artists’ files, and pamphlet files with a goal of providing access to the materials through the collections management databases, library catalog, and website.  The Intern will also attend Archives + Library Department meetings and participate in library programming.


  • Provide cataloging in the library
  • Provide support with the artists’ files, journals, and pamphlet files
  • Identify basic preservation needs
  • Assist researchers
  • Assist with the planning, staffing, and statistics for library programming


  • Student in a Master’s degree ALA accredited library or information sciences program
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of library systems such as KOHA
  • Experience with MARC, RDA, OCLC connexion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Previous experience in a contemporary art museum or library a plus
  • Knowledge of and working experience with contemporary artists’ books a plus
