The Walker Art Center seeks a full-time Assistant Librarian to assist the Head of Archives + Library in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Library and the Rosemary Furtak Collection of rare books.  This individual will provide research services, facilitate interlibrary loans, provide tours, oversee interns and volunteers, and keep general order within the Library.  The Assistant Librarian is a team leader in the implementation for the Walker Art Center Library’s integrated library system. 

HOURS AND COMPENSATION:

Full-time (35 hours), Exempt; Salary up to $40k, dependent on level of experience; flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is required, excellent benefits package, Walker membership and museum discount, and opportunity to work alongside talented individuals as well as support remarkable artists, events and programming 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from ALA accredited library or information sciences program
  • Extensive knowledge and working experience with managing rare books with particular emphasis on contemporary artists’ books
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of library systems, particularly open source solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
