Visitor Experience Associate (Internal Candidates Only)

All visitor-facing teams share responsibility for greeting our visitors and providing assistance in ways that support extraordinary experiences and repeat visits. Our Visitor Experience Associates provide recognizably exceptional customer service to all visitors. 


WHAT YOU GET TO 

  • Provide recognizably exceptional customer service to all visitors.
  • Proactively and warmly welcome guests, respond to questions, and provide guidance to museum visitors.
  • Provide thorough knowledge of general event and facility information for visitors

Gallery Admissions

  • Sell daily museum admission, program tickets, and memberships.
  • Process transactions through the ticketing and client management system (Tessitura).
  • Respond to general inquiries and feedback from guests and members on site.
  • Resolve customer concerns in a polite and professional manner.

COVES Surveys

  • Proactively approach exiting visitors to invite participation in surveys and collect visitor feedback data.
  • Follow detailed research protocols, including careful documentation.

Ushering

  • Seat patrons, scan tickets, distribute programs, and perform light theater cleaning between screenings.
  • Assist in crowd monitoring for safety concerns and emergency situations.

WHAT WE NEED IN YOU 

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in customer service, tourism and box office procedures desirable.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a quick and resourceful manner.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays (as required by museum operations)
  • Ability to use technology to perform essential job duties
  • Possession of a personal mobile device capable of supporting work-related communication (e.g., 2FA, messaging, or scheduling applications)

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to handle a variety of operations simultaneously. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Interest in art, museums, or cultural programming

PHYSICAL DEMANDS   

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Primarily performs work in a seated position, with the option to alternate between sitting and standing as needed.
  • Requires the ability to view and interpret information on a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Uses standard office equipment, including a keyboard and mouse.
  • Communicates effectively with others, including receiving and responding to questions, shared information, and safety-related communications.
  • May occasionally move or transport items weighing up to 10–15 pounds.
  • Moves within a cinema environment, which may include navigating stairs or ramps.
  • Work environment includes exposure to low lighting, loud audio, and visual effects such as flashing or flickering lights associated with film presentations.
  • May occasionally work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS This position is considered part-time, non-exempt. As a non-exempt position, it is eligible for overtime pay. The compensation for this role is $18.10 hourly.

This position is covered by the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME) labor contract.
