The Walker Art Center is seeking an independent contractor to provide management and administrative services for a temporary exhibition, Still and Yet. The Production Manager will be responsible for approximately 15 in-gallery performances from April through July 2020 while maintaining close contact with artists regarding contractual agreements, timelines, schedules, and performance details. Working closely with the Curator and Associate Director of Programs, Visual Arts; responsibilities will include finalizing performers; managing logistics with artists and agents as well as artistic issues; tracking budget with department and exhibitions staff; overseeing auditions, rehearsals, and all in-gallery performances; reconciliation of project financials with department, WAC staff, and partners; and participating in meetings as necessary.
Arts administration background, with minimum of 2-3 years of applied experience managing entire performance production from start to finish; practical knowledge in contemporary visual arts discipline preferred; willingness to work across performing and visual arts disciplines a must.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Outstanding organizational skills with high attention to detail; handling multiple projects simultaneously Proven ability working effectively with a wide range of people and styles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PC) with experience with database systems (FileMaker, Tessitura, and Artifax experience a plus).
SCHEDULE & DURATION
Job Type: Independent Contractor
Duration: 13 months
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is required; ability to work administratively on-site for essential exhibition-related meetings, as well as remotely off-site.
